What is Workplace for Frontline?

Frontline employees can be added to either a Workplace Advanced or Workplace Enterprise community using Workplace for Frontline.

Workplace for Frontline in both Advanced and Enterprise makes it easier to manage how frontline employees access Workplace. With Frontline, admins can choose to enable conditional access management to manage hourly workers’ access outside of working hours and disable group creation.

What is the definition of a frontline user?

Frontline employees are people whose primary role function is to work directly with customers or the general public providing services, support and selling products, or employees directly involved in the manufacturing and distribution of products.

In order to qualify as frontline on Workplace, an employee must fall into one or more of these buckets:

  • Employee is desk-less 50% of the time or more.
  • Employee is paid hourly.
  • Employee does not have a company email address

AND employee matches one of these role descriptions:

  • Customer-facing worker (sales-floor, receptionist, associate, hospitality worker, air steward etc) at any level including management
  • Backstage worker (warehouse, courier, etc) at any level including management
  • Utilities or public service worker (police officer, waste management, electrical line repair, water department) at any level including management
  • Medical care staff (nursing, doctor, facilities) at any level including management

Can I sign up for only Workplace for Frontline?

Workplace for Frontline can only be used as an add-on to Workplace Advanced or Workplace Enterprise.

How much does Workplace for Frontline cost?

Employees who use Workplace for Frontline are charged at $1.50 per person, per month, rather than $4 on Workplace Advanced or rather than $8 on Workplace Enterprise.

How do I add a Frontline user to my Workplace community?

What does per user, per month mean?

On Workplace Advanced and Enterprise, you pay for the number of people who have been invited to claim their Workplace account (including those who have gone on to claim their accounts). You can provision an unlimited number of people to Workplace. A user becomes a billable person only once they've been invited to sign up for their Workplace account.

How does per user, per month pricing make the cost of Workplace predictable?

Workplace administrators can control how many people are invited to sign up to their Workplace account and therefore can control and predict how much Workplace will cost each month.

Will the total price I pay for Workplace increase?

Existing customers will continue to pay $3 per monthly active user until 30th November 2020. Starting December 1st 2020, the effect of the new list prices will depend on two factors:

The first factor is the number of users who will move onto the Frontline price plan. For example, a high number of users on Frontline pricing may decrease the overall cost of Workplace as Frontline is charged at only $1.50 per person per month.

The second factor is the number of users who have been invited to claim their Workplace account (as this will be the new billing metric). For example, if a community has invited a high number of users to claim their account, but only has a low number of monthly active users, the total cost of Workplace will increase. To minimize the increase, System Admins can deactivate inactive users in the Admin Panel at any time.

Can I cancel my Workplace plan?

Workplace has a subscription-based model and you can cancel your account at any time. You can also consider switching to Workplace Essential, which is the current free version of Workplace. Visit the Help Center to learn how to delete your Workplace from the Admin Panel.
