Automatic alternative (alt) text is a feature that uses object recognition technology to create a description of a photo for the blind and vision-loss community.
To hear the automatic alt text for a photo, access Workplace with a screen reader and focus on the image. If objects are identified, you'll hear a list of items the photo may contain.
If you're using the Workplace app for Android, you can use automatic alt text to hear a description of photos before you upload them. To hear a description of a photo before you upload it, open Workplace using TalkBack and long press (double tap and hold) on the photo in your camera roll.
Automatic alt text is supported in the following languages:
  • Arabic
  • Bengali
  • Chinese
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Gujarati
  • Hebrew
  • Hindi
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
