Watching videos

Find out more about video captions, quality and downloads on Workplace.

You can download videos from your computer.
To download a video uploaded to a Workplace group:
  1. From the group, go to the video that you'd like to download.
  2. Click on the video you'd like to download.
  3. Click in the top right corner and select Download Video.
Video downloads may not be available if your admin has enabled Video Rights Management for your Workplace community.

You can adjust the quality of your videos on Workplace.
To adjust the quality of your videos from a computer:
  1. Click on your profile picture in the bottom left > click Settings.
  2. Click Videos in the left menu.
  3. Click the dropdown menu next to Video default quality and select Default, SD only or HD if available.
Keep in mind that by default, the quality of videos will be automatically changed depending on available bandwidth. The faster it is, the higher the quality of the video will be.

Adding closed captions and media is only available to users of Workplace's classic design at this time.
Computer
You can adjust your video settings to always show captions, when available.
  1. Click .
  2. Click Videos.
  3. Click Off next to Always Show Captions.
  4. Select On to turn on captions for Workplace videos, when available.
Your caption settings will only apply to videos you watch on a computer.
iOS
  1. Go to your device's home screen
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap General > Accessibility > Subtitles & Captioning.
  4. Tap next to Closed Captions + SDH to turn on captions for videos, when available.
Keep in mind that not all videos on Workplace have captions. Learn how to add captions to a video you've added.

You can edit the way captions look on Workplace videos. These caption settings will only apply to videos you watch on a desktop computer.
  1. Click on your profile photo in the bottom left of Workplace > Click Settings > Click Videos.
  2. Click Edit to the right of Captions Display.
  3. Click each option you want to adjust:
    • Background Color: the color of the caption's background.
    • Background Opacity: how transparent the caption's background is.
    • Text Color: the color of the caption's text.
    • Text Size: how big the caption's text is.
  4. Click Save Changes > check the caption preview to see how your caption will look.
Keep in mind that not all videos on Workplace have captions. Learn how to add captions to a video you've added.

Troubleshooting
Try the following if you can't view or play videos on your computer:
If your computer is running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP or an earlier version of Windows, the issue you're experiencing may be fixed by using a different browser. When you switch to a new web browser, make sure that you're using the most recent version of that web browser.

Live video isn't currently supported in mobile web. Once the live video has finished broadcasting, the VOD (video on demand) can be viewed in mobile web browsers.
