By default, system admins are able to use the Download Workplace data tool to create and download data exports for their organization.
If you’d like to remove this permission for specific system admin users, you can do this by creating a new custom admin role that includes a restriction on access to the Download Workplace data tool and then assigning those individuals to it.
This feature could also be used to grant access to the Download Workplace data tool to non-system admin users.
To create a new custom admin role that includes a restriction on Workplace data downloads:
- Click on Admins under the Admin Panel menu.
- Click on the New role button above the list of users.
- Enter a name for the new role (for example, ‘Data downloads restricted’).
- Uncheck the Download Workplace Export data option under the ‘Edit role’ list.
- Click Create role.
- Select the individual system admin user you wish to switch to this new custom role by clicking Edit next to their name.
- From the list of admin roles available, select the new custom role you just created.
- Click Save.
