Why Workplace?
Before Workplace, Asiacell relied on email to communicate with employees. This style of communication saw limited opportunities for two-way interaction, which became an increasing challenge when the organization moved to remote work in February 2020.
Leaders wanted an internal communication tool to help keep teams engaged, maintain productivity, and offer support during a challenging period. As most employees were already familiar with Facebook, all teams could interact with the content and participate on the platform without any formal training.

Results

Maintaining engagement while working remotely
As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded in 2020, Asiacell used Workplace to create the “Because We Care” initiative. The goal was to keep employees updated on guidelines and restrictions, and to keep engagement high. Leaders hosted daily Live video sessions to check on employees' wellbeing and make important announcements. People used Posts to directly engage with leaders, while comments in Groups provided real-time feedback, and helped employees connect personally and professionally despite being physically separated. This gave Asiacell the confidence to move its call center team to full-time remote work.

Boosting culture with virtual experiences
Using Workplace Live and a Zoom integration, the organization launched weekly Asiacell Digital TV episodes to discuss challenges, share updates, and invite feedback, with more than 1,000 people tuning into the episodes. Leaders also created a special series for Ramadan, which included educational episodes, pop quizzes with prizes, and support for those fasting. Creating a virtual space for employees to interact and connect improved company culture and increased the organization's Employee Net Promoter Score as a result.

Driving innovation through collaboration
With the launch of Workplace, Asiacell was able to build out its innovation program. The “Digital Wall of Ideas” group allows employees to share and interact with new ideas, which are then evaluated by an innovation committee. From the 400 ideas posted to date, more than 80 have been turned into successful initiatives. The program fosters collaboration, creativity, and provides a platform for employees to be recognized and rewarded.
